About Us

George and Bruce started Perkins Brothers in 1976 with 2 purposes in mind; have a business to generate revenue and to spend that revenue on their drag racing endeavours (those of you who race know EXACTLY what I’m talking about). Actually, they didn’t plan to spend all of the revenue on racing but the more you get into it the bigger the bills get.

They ran their first car in 1978 and were regular participants in the NHRA Div. 6 circuit traveling up and down the west coast of Canada and the U.S. Their last year on the circuit was in 2004 but they still regularly race at Mission Raceway, in Mission B.C.

The experience that they acquired from racing and building the cars carries over into the Perkins Brothers shop. There is an art to getting the most from your vehicle not just on the performance but also in the efficiency of the vehicle. Small changes like these can have a huge impact on the track and on the street.
It’s unlikely that the early pioneers of automobile construction would recognize or even comprehend today’s cars. Where the original concept was a “Horseless Carriage” and a means to move from point A to B with a minimum of fuss and comfort, todays vehicles go well beyond a method of transport.

Most people view their vehicles as a statement of who they are or what they have been able to achieve in their lives. As a result they want to ensure that their investments are well looked after and respected by the people working on them. We at Perkins Brothers understand how important your vehicle is to you, not only for its monetary and esthetic value, but also the practical side of needing your car for work and play. We take pride in our workmanship and treat your vehicle as if it was our own.

The first internal combustion engines were simple as were the method they used to transfer the power to the wheels. Today’s motors, transmissions, drive trains, exhausts and electrics are complex interactive systems that need to bet set up properly for your vehicle to run correctly and efficiently. From straightforward carbureted motors to complex electronically controlled fuel injection systems we can service your vehicle. We have the latest in diagnostic tools and service information to fully service your car or truck, regardless of year, make or model.

We stay on top of the changes in this industry and are capable of providing factory level service for most of the newer Flex Fuels, Hybrids, and alternative fuel vehicles. Call us or drop in for a free no obligation consultation.

Perkins Automotive

Maple Ridge Auto Specialists

Perkins Brothers Automotive was started in 1976 by George and Bruce Perkin. Both George and Bruce were avid drag racers and the shop was a perfect venue for them to pursue their drag racing passion and have their mechanical skills generate an income for them and their families.

The company operated with 3 mechanics out of a very small original shop on Dewdney Trunk Road in Maple Ridge for 11 years. In 1987 the brothers expanded the business, completing construction of a new back shop with 4 times the space and state of the art test equipment, hoists and service tools. This shop area is the heart of the business still and has been upgraded many times over the years so that Perkin Brothers stays on top of the industry changes.

Bruce left the business to pursue other interests, but not before the brothers had brought another generation of Perkin into the company fold, Ken Perkin. The commitment to our customers is continued across the generations.

We have been here a long time and we intend on being here for at least another 38 years thanks to our customers!
